License Terms

Tensile3D desktop plugins (3D Tiles, glTF, Interactive Web, IFC, and USD exporters for Autodesk Navisworks)

Last updated:22 August 2026

1. Overview

These terms describe how Tensile3D licenses work for our Autodesk Navisworks plugins. Licenses are issued and validated through the Tensile3D license server. Signed license payloads are verified by the plugin using an embedded public key so license files cannot be forged or edited.

Covered products include the 3D Tiles, glTF, Interactive Web, IFC, and USD exporters for Autodesk Navisworks (also licensed together as Tensile3D Exporter). Pricing is provided separately when you purchase; this page covers rules only.

2. License types

Trial

  • Issued automatically on first plugin run (requires internet connection to the license server).
  • Bound to the machine fingerprint.
  • Reinstalling the plugin does not reset or extend a trial.
  • Typical duration: 15 days (as configured for the product).

Perpetual (fixed machine)

  • Node-locked to activated machine seat(s).
  • After successful activation, the license can operate fully offline.
  • Periodic online revalidation may be requested (for example every 90 days) when the machine is online; this does not expire a perpetual entitlement under normal use.

Subscription

  • Time-limited entitlement that renews while the subscription remains active (e.g. via Stripe or PayPal).
  • Requires periodic online validation. If the license server cannot be reached, a limited offline grace window applies (typically 7 days).
  • When the subscription ends or payment fails, the license becomes invalid after grace rules expire.

3. Seats & machines

  • Each paid license key has a seat limit (number of machines that may be activated at once). Activating beyond the seat limit is rejected until a seat is freed.
  • Use Deactivate in the plugin About dialog to release a seat so the same key can be used on another computer.
  • Machine identity is based on a hardware/OS fingerprint collected by the plugin. Changing major hardware may require reactivation.
  • The About dialog can show where a license is currently active (hostname of seated machines) when the license server is online.

4. Version coverage

Each license includes a maximum plugin version it covers (maxVersion). A newer plugin build than your licensed version will not activate until your license is updated for that version. Contact Tensile3D if you need coverage for a newer release.

5. Online requirements

  • Starting a trial and activating or deactivating a license require a connection to the Tensile3D license server.
  • Perpetual licenses can run offline after activation, subject to the revalidation policy above.
  • Subscription licenses need periodic online checks and use an offline grace window when the server is temporarily unreachable.

6. Acceptable use

  • You may use the software only under a valid trial or paid license for the entitled product.
  • You may not share license keys publicly, reverse-engineer the licensing mechanism, or attempt to forge signed license files.
  • Seat limits and machine binding are part of the license; bypassing them is not permitted.
